What is the run time of the PowerPad?

The run time of PowerPad depends upon the usages of it. To find out what the run time would be for your usage, a simple formula can be used.

For example, PPD 95:
( 95 ÷ Total capacity of laptop internal battery) X Run time of laptop internal battery¹

E.g. If the Total capacity of a laptop internal battery = 40 Wh, and the Run time of a laptop internal battery = 2 hours, then...
( 95 ÷ 40 ) x 2 = 2.4 x 2 = 4.8 hours.

Therefore, the Run time of the PowerPad under these circumstances is 4.8 hours.

What is the lifetime of the PowerPad?

The life of the PPD is dependant on how it is used. Typically PPD provides approx. 360 cycles *.
For all Lithium Ion based batteries, it is common, that from the first day of its usage, it starts to self-discharge.

¹How do I find out the capacity (wattage) of my laptop internal battery?

You can check your respective laptop manufacturers' website, or alternatively you can remove the battery from your laptop and read the output voltage and output amperage on the reverse side of the battery. To find out what the capacity of your laptops' internal battery is, use the formula demonstrated below.

Wattage = Output Voltage X Output Amperage

E.g. If the Output Voltage of a laptop battery = 14 V, and the Output Amperage of a laptop battery = 3 hours, then...

14 x 3 = 42

Therefore, the capacity of this laptop battery is 42 Watts.

How do I maximize my run time using my notebook's power management software?

Windows Power Management allows for two power management modes, one for the internal battery and one for the AC Adapter power, or “external power.” It is the external power management that needs to be activated to maximize the use of the PowerPad. The most important feature of Power Management is the “Turn off Hard Disks” setting. This setting should be set at the lowest time interval allowed. Other settings which will maximize the PowerPad's use are: turning the screen brightness down; activating hibernation; and setting Suspend to minimum time interval.
